An Update

The Gala Day has come and gone with a lot of fuss but not to much real bother. The weather held and the crowds were good and even more importantly they were spending. The total take for the day was around $29000 which should ensure a final profit of something over $26000 - not bad for a days fund raising!

The 1st and 2nd XV have returned from their trip to Napier and De La Salle. The 2nds played hard in both games before going down to bigger and stronger teams. The 1st XV played very well to draw 15 all with Napier boys and then narrowly lose to De La Salle 13 to 12 only two days later. The De La Salle game was held in Mangere in front of a good crowd that included David Tua - fortunately only watching. We were treated very well by Br Steve Hogan and his team at Mangere and the players really enjoyed their billeting experience - something that would bring back a lot of memories for many old boys.

It was great to catch up with a number of old boys at the College's Day in Napier including Robin Fabish (teaching at Napier Boys), Richard Hall (Senior Master at Napier Boys) and Richard Schumacher who is Principal at Central Hawkes Bay College.
